Springfield - It's a Hell of a Town

Guess who's planning a book!

Rod Blagojevich doesn't want to be judgemental, he just wants to dish the dirt on his fellow Ill politicians. According to him the elected officials sitting in Springfield conduct themselves like a pack of television evangelists. For instance there's plenty of drinking and cheating. No one really knows whats going on either. With all the screwing around allegedly done I doubt that they have the time and energy to keep abreast  of the issues. They're probably not sober enough either!

Mayor Richard Daley needs to be looked at too.

Blago knows

The above interview was taken from WLA-AM's Don Wade and Roma Show. Blago came out swinging and pulled no punches. According to him corruption is business as usual as reps slut it up and stick their snouts into the trough. Now Blago should know a thing or two about corruption since he was tape recorded trying to sell Pres Barack Obama's vacant senate seat. According Blago "It's a fucking valuable thing. I'm not gonna just give it away!" I'm sure he meant that it should go to some one who earned it, through service to the community; like Oprah Winfrey!

Blago gets desperate

Glaring hypocrisy aside, Blago feels that he still has a contribution to make; if not in public office then by spilling the beans. Some of his former colleagues are understandably alarmed. House Majority Leader Barbara Flynn Currie, for instance, doesn't understand what Blago is doing by 'spreading rumours'. She can't possibly be as naive as she sounds. Rep John D'Amcio says "He's destroying himself". A spokesperson for Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan - Steven Brown - simply says "He's nuts". At least no one has said "He's a dead man" yet - that's really more of a Jay-Z thing.

To squeal or not to squeal

If any one should know about corruption in Illinois I would think that Blago is the man. It's also pretty clear why he's talking - if he's going down he's gonna take people with him. It's also pretty clear why most of the politicians in Springfield are nervous - Blago knows stuff and it looks like he's ready to spew! He's already been booted from his office, and now facing corruption charges that could put him behind bars for 20 years, he doesn't have much motivation to stay quiet. The question is will all those drunken cheats find a reason for him to keep quiet?

Blago talks, but silence is golden

I'm sure dropping those charges might help. The trouble with that gambit is that the line has already been crossed in the game. Blago's high profile. Everyone knows he's facing criminal court too. If the charges suddenly go away, and he stops talking, people will assume he was right, and that the drunken cheats got scared. However there's a difference between the public suspecting the somebody was up to something, and knowing specifically who did what. Any kind of credible denial would get blown away. Will Blago be able to talk his way out of the big house. It's a wait and see game at this point. I would've loved to read his book, though. I wonder how many guilty politicians have started taking their wives out to dinner lately?? I wonder if Blago has pictures!

Well Blago, Jefferson Smith you ain't!

Everybody is clever nowadays. You can't go anywhere without meeting clever people. The thing has become an absolute public nuisance. I wish to goodness we had a few fools left.
