Dark Knight Goes Naomi Campbell on Set

For those who still haven't heard the story, Christian Bale was on the set of his new Terminator Movie, also starring the lovely and talented Lena Headey (the Queen from the 300), when he flipped out at the Director of Photography - Shane Hurlbut. Bale found this irksome and so let loose with the 'artistic temperament'. It should be said that Bale was more temperamental than artistic in berating his hapless victim. I'd say Bale called him every name in the book except Bale's book only seems to have one name, and it beings with "F". Bale used that little expletive 40x! Is it possible to exchange him for Heath Ledger?? That guy was a sweetheart, even when he was messed up. At least Bale could've worked in some variety, perhaps by calling the DP a thoughtless asshole or ignorant little pig.who's playing games? - overly motivated actor needs to go smoke a joint
The Alec Baldwin reference raises an interesting point. Actors flip out all the time. The crew usually aren't recording it for later broadcast. Also the DP seemed to be repeatedly doing something that had been mentioned before and that he knew was getting on Bale's infamous nerves. When some one is known to have a temper it isn't hard to wind them up. So a good question might be "who's got it in for Bale on the Terminator set?" Some one with a tape recorder, I guess.
Incidentally the Christian Bale freak out is being hotly debated over @ GOSSIPROCKS. Opinion seems divided between "He's an asshole" and "He's an actor". So there really doesn't seem to be too much difference in positions. Either way this seems to have taken the pressure of Jeremy Piven nicely. For a while he was in danger of being the biggest jerk in show biz. There's just too much competition for that title though.
